Nutrition in the summer

In order to stay healthy year round, eating with the seasons is extremely important in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Life is all about balance and that goes for our diets as well. Generally speaking, when the weather is cold our bodies need warming foods like ginger, steamed vegetables and a variety of soups. Then in the summer time, we need cooling foods like watermelon, cucumbers, and salads.

Below are some tips and foods to make sure you are giving your mind and body what they need to be functioning at an optimal level.

•Stay hydrated with plenty of water throughout the day.

•Remain calm and not tempered. Anger and excessive emotions trigger a flare up of heat!

•Get plenty of sleep and even a power nap mid day can be very beneficial to our energy

•Fish

•Watermelon

•Cucumber

•Celery

•Strawberries

•Lemons

•Lettuce

•Asparagus

•Tomatoes

•Broccoli

•Mint

•Dill

•Cilantro

•Spinach

•Mushrooms
