Chinese New Year 2019

By: Kevin Tangeros, L.Ac., MSOM

Today is China’s most celebrated holiday. For those of you who don’t know and/or wonder why the Chinese New Year is today, February 5th 2019, it’s because it follows the lunar calendar year and a month in the Chinese calendar year spans a single lunar cycle.

2019 is the year of the pig! Their big ears and chubby faces are signs of good fortune. The pig is associated with yin and the earth element.

A nice way to give yourself good fortune this year is to eat an orange for luck and an apple to provide yourself with safety.

Happy Chinese New Year!
